EIBOS Series X: Tetras and Dyas – A Comprehensive Introduction

In 3D printing, filament moisture control is crucial for achieving consistent, high-quality results. Moisture-laden filaments can lead to problems such as stringing, nozzle clogs, and poor layer adhesion. For users of Bambu Lab AMS, EIBOS Series X Tetras and Dyas are two integrated drying solutions designed to enhance the performance of Bambu Lab AMS by adding active drying capabilities.

In this blog, we’ll provide a detailed look at the Tetras and Dyas, covering their features, differences, common core, installation instructions, and frequently asked questions.

1. Shared Features and Key Differences

EIBOS Series X: Tetras and Dyas are designed to meet the diverse filament drying needs of Bambu Lab AMS users. Both models have a range of powerful features to ensure high-quality printing by maintaining optimal filament conditions. But they also have some differences in some aspects, such as the Tetras is equipped with four independent drying chambers, while the Dyas is equipped with two drying chambers. Here are more detailed descriptions:

Shared Features:

  • Drying while printing: supports continuous drying of filaments during printing.
  • Active Drying & External Circulation: Automatically opens the sealing cover when drying starts, and removes moisture efficiently through external air circulation.
  • Smart Storage & Auto-Seal: Automatically closes the sealing cover at the end of drying to maintain a dry environment and prevent moisture from entering.
  • Second-Stage Drying: Rapidly removes moisture in the first stage, and maintains a stable temperature in the second stage to optimize printing.
  • Plug and Play Installation: No major modifications to the AMS are required; just replace the top cover and install the foot pads.
  • Smart Humidity Maintenance: Automatically adjusts drying settings based on humidity levels.
  • Unlimited Drying Time: Ideal for long printing tasks.
  • Energy Saving: You can choose to activate only the drying chambers you need, rather than running all of them at once. This helps reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency.

Key Differences:

One of the key differences between the EIBOS Series X: Tetras and Dyas lies in the number of independent drying chambers they create within Bambu AMS. Tetras divides the space into four independent chambers, while Dyas divides it into two.

Despite this difference, both models can dry four spools of filament simultaneously. However, separating filaments into more individual chambers allows for more precise temperature control, making it easier to apply optimal drying temperatures for different filament types—and thus achieve better drying results.

2. What is the core of EIBOS Series X: Tetras&Dyas

EIBOS Series X: Tetras and Dyas are both actual use cases of "Proteus" on Bambu lab AMS. Proteus is a filament drying core that we are developing. Unlike traditional filament dryers, which are often rigid and limited to specific configurations, the Proteus introduces a highly adaptable approach to filament drying. By separating the intelligent drying control from the physical housing, Proteus allows for seamless integration into various setups, including the Bambu Lab AMS and potentially standalone configurations. This modularity positions Proteus as a versatile platform for next-generation filament drying solutions, with the potential to expand compatibility to other multi-color systems and DIY setups in the future. Therefore, Proteus is not just a component, but a modular core that powers the next generation of filament drying systems.

Conclusion

EIBOS Series X: Tetras and Dyas represent a significant leap forward in filament drying technology, specifically designed for Bambu Lab AMS users. Their ability to dry filaments during printing, coupled with intelligent controls and easy installation, ensures high-quality prints free from moisture-related defects. EIBOS Series X: Tetras is ideal for heavy multi-filament users, while the emergence of Dyas offers a wide range of options. Built on the innovative Proteus, these devices promise future adaptability and compatibility.

FAQs

Q: Are Tetras and Dyas compatible with Bambu Lab AMS 1 and AMS 2 pro?

A: EIBOS Series X: Tetras and Dyas are compatible with Bambu lab AMS 1, not in AMS 2

Q: Do I need to modify my AMS or printer to use Tetras and Dyas?

A: Without breaking the original AMS, just a few modifications are required.
Replace the entire top cover (4 screws in total) and install new foot pads. The controller and power supply need to be installed on the Support Frame. The whole process only requires screwing, and no holes or other tools are required.

Q: Why is the maximum temperature of EIBOS Series X: Tetras & Dyas only 65℃?

A: Since the label on the edge of Bambu Lab's reel requires the drying temperature of the consumables to be less than 70℃, we believe that this is the temperature that the filament spool can withstand under the test standard. In order to ensure the safety of the consumables and the consumable reel, we set the upper limit of the temperature to 65℃ to ensure the stability of the AMS cavity and filaments.
