Upgrade your Polyphemus with a more convenient top cover solution! Some users found that removing the entire cover every time you dry filament can be a bit cumbersome. To simplify this process, a customer modified their Polyphemus to attach the 3KG Extension to the top cover and use magnets to connect the bottom cover, creating a small removable top cover.
We think this is a very useful suggestion. While the current design is already effective, this modification provides a more convenient option for users looking for enhanced ease of use. So we wanted to share the specific steps of this modification with you in this blog.

Must Have:
1. Polyphemus 3KG Extension
2. Magnet: We have experimented with a variety of magnets and recommend using 6mm x 2mm magnets. If you prefer a stronger cover, we recommend using a 10mm x 3mm magnet. We also provide STL files of magnetic clips of corresponding sizes for users.
Step 1: Three ways to connect 3KG Extension to the top cover
- Use the built-in countersunk screws (M2.5X50) to connect the extension and Polyphemu top cover, and then fix it with nuts (M2.5).
Materials to be prepared: 4 nuts (M2.5)

- Place the double-headed copper nut into the extrusion strip, and then use the countersunk hexagon socket screw to fix the connection and the bottom of the expansion piece.
Materials to be prepared: 4 double-headed copper nuts (M2.5X12X3.5), 8 countersunk hexagon socket screws (M2.5X22)

- Insert the hot-melt copper nuts at both ends of the extrusion strip, and then use the countersunk hexagon socket screw to fix the connection and the bottom of the expansion piece
Materials to be prepared: 8 copper nuts (M2.5xH8XD4), 8 countersunk screws (M2.5X10)

Step2: Add magnetic suction function
1. 3D print 8 magnetic fixing clips STL files provided by EIBOS
2. Insert the magnet into the slot of the magnetic fixing clip and fix it with glue. Make sure that there is no mutual repulsion between the magnets. If you have a favorite direction, you can fix the contacting surfaces of the magnets in the front and back directions to the same magnetic pole direction. You can use a compass for precise positioning.
3. Slide the magnetic fixing clip into the corner of the component and install it in the direction you expect.

Last Words
If you want the wire outlet to be right in front of the top cover, we provide an STL file for the acrylic plate replacement. You can print it out and replace the original acrylic plate to achieve the purpose of wire outlet from the front.
If you encounter any problems, please feel free to leave your confusion and I will do my best to answer them for you.
